HART to Operate Regular Saturday Service on Gasparilla Event Day

January 17, 2007 - Tampa, Florida – Due to road closures for the Gasparilla Invasion and Parade, some Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) services will be operating on detour. Most HART routes, however, will be operating regularly scheduled Saturday service.

People who wish to take advantage of public transit to access downtown Tampa can choose from among the following options:

From North Tampa:
Route 1 – Florida Avenue
University Area Transit Center to downtown’s Marion Transit Center, with a convenient stop at HART’s Yukon Transfer Center

Route 7 – West Tampa/Citrus Park
From the Citrus Park area to Marion Transit Center; stops at West Tampa Transfer Center (former Tampa Bay Center mall site)

Route 12 – 22nd Street
University Area Transit Center to Marion Transit Center; stops in Ybor City

Route 18 – 30th Street
University Area Transit Center to Marion Transit Center; stops on USF campus

From Temple Terrace:
Route 6 – 56th Street
From Netpark business complex to downtown’s Marion Transit Center; stops on USF campus

From Town N’Country/Westshore:
Route 30 – Town N’ Country
From HART’s Hanley/Waters Plaza to Marion Transit Center, with stops at St. Matthew’s Park-n-Ride and Westshore Plaza

From Brandon:
Route 8 – Progress Village/Brandon
From Westfield Brandon mall to downtown’s Marion Transit Center

Downtown Circulation
The TECO Line Streetcar System takes you from Ybor City and Channelside parking garages to just outside the Tampa Convention Center. A 1-Day Unlimited Ride farecard is just $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for seniors, youths, and people with disabilites or on Medicare.

Route 98, HART’s In-Town Trolley, will be on detour due to street closures for the parade and street festival. The detour route will take patrons down the Marion Street Transitway for FREE, allowing easy access from Marion Transit Center to central locations in downtown Tampa. Route 98 will be operating from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Service Interruptions:
• Route 8 - Progress Village/Brandon - No service to the Channelside District. Route will still serve the Marion Transit Center.
• Route 19 - Port Tampa - No service to Tampa General Hospital after 10 a.m. Route will still serve the Marion Transit Center.

Fare for HART local service is $1.50 one-way for adults, and 75 cents for seniors older than 65, kids 17 and younger, people with disabilities or on Medicare. Or, ride all day with a 1-Day Unlimited Ride fare card for $3.25 for adults, or $1.60 discount fare. If you plan to stay late, make sure you ask when the last bus leaves downtown for your neighborhood.
