Florida 33605-2300 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA CONTACT: PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED TO
DISCUSS PROPOSED SERVICE CHANGES FOR ROUTES January 18, 2002 Tampa, FL - Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) will hold a public hearing to address potential route changes to improve efficiency and adjust to changes in operating conditions on February 4, 2002. The meeting will be held at the Hillsborough County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Boulevard, in the 18th floor Planning Commission Boardroom. The hearing will begin at 8:30 a.m. Public comments will be taken at this hearing, by email addressed to maynesm@gohart.org, or by calling HART at (813) 223-6831, ext. 2213. The following will be discussed: Modification to Route 33 Fletcher Avenue and Route 36 Westside Shopper - It is proposed that the northern end of Route 36 terminate at Mission Bell Shopping Center (Dale Mabry/Fletcher Avenue). Route 33 would be extended to serve Dale Mabry between Mission Bell Shopping Center and North Lakeview Drive Monday through Friday. This proposed modification is an efficiency measure that could result in significant cost savings. Consideration of alternate transfer and staging locations for bus routes currently serving Tampa Bay Center - Planned property redevelopment activities at Tampa Bay Center Mall may result in HART being required to move to an alternate site on the mall property or other locations on a permanent or temporary basis. This would impact eight local routes. Several alternate locations on the mall property and in the general vicinity have been identified. The sites off the mall property are near the intersection of Lois Avenue and Tampa Bay Boulevard, St. Isabel Street between MacDill Avenue and Gomez Street and on Columbus Avenue near MacDill Avenue. These potential site options and related bus circulation patterns will be discussed during the hearing. The public hearing site is wheelchair accessible. Please contact HART if you require accessible formats or other special accommodations. The regular HART Board Meeting will immediately follow the public hearing. For more information about the potential service modifications, or schedule, route and fare information call the HARTinfo Line at (813) 254-4278, or (813) 626-9158 for TDD -HART- |
