Florida 33605-2300 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA CONTACT: STREETCAR’S RETURN TO TAMPA! After more than sixty years, streetcars will once again travel the streets of Tampa. During the week of January 23rd through January 28th, HART and the Ybor City State Museum will host exhibits in Ybor City and downtown Tampa featuring streetcars from the past and the present. The displays will feature a restored Birney car with bright yellow exterior and beautiful wooden trim and the new technology of the TECO Line streetcar, which will be air-conditioned for passenger comfort and accessible for persons with disabilities. The HART display of the TECO Line streetcar will be located directly in front of the Marriott Waterside Hotel on Ice Palace Drive and Franklin Street beginning Tuesday, January 23rd through Sunday, January 28th. Exhibit hours will be from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday. The Ybor exhibit will take place outside of the Ybor City State Museum located at 1818 East Ninth Avenue at the corner of 19th Street. Exhibit hours are Friday, January 26th through Saturday January 27th from noon to 6:30 pm, and noon to 6:00 pm on Sunday January 28th. Each display will have route maps showing the first phase of the streetcar line that will run between the Tampa Convention Center and Ybor City, serving Channelside Drive, Ybor City on Thirteenth Street and Eight Avenue through Centro Ybor to Twentieth Street. Future stops will serve the Ice Palace, Garrison Seaport and the Florida Aquarium.
