HART’s ROUTE 4 TO RUN EXTENDED SERVICE
DURING AIRFEST WEEKEND
March 21, 2007 - Tampa, Florida – HART is extending regular service on Route 4 – Palma Ceia/MacDill to include Saturday and Sunday hours on March 31st and April 1st to accommodate people traveling between downtown Tampa and the South Tampa area.
Patrons can use Route 4 to access key destinations including:
• Downtown Tampa and parking facilities
• Tampa Convention Center/Harbour Island
• Hyde Park Village
• MacDill Air Force Base (AirFest)
To avoid excessive traffic around MacDill Air Force Base and speed travel time, Route 4 will detour away from its usual route on MacDill Avenue. Instead, it will take Euclid to Bayshore Boulevard, then cross over to MacDill Avenue to access the base.
Patrons heading to South Tampa for AirFest or other destinations on Saturday, March 31st can catch Route 4 downtown at Marion Transit Center every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., when the last bus leaves downtown. Saturday return trips from MacDill AFB to downtown will run every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., when the last bus leaves MacDill AFB.
On Sunday, April 1st, Route 4 will depart Marion Transit Center every 15 minutes from noon to 3 p.m. (last bus leaves downtown at 3 p.m.). Return trips from MacDill AFB to downtown will run every 15 minutes from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (last bus leaves MacDill at 6 p.m.).
Regular local fares of $1.50 for adults, and 75¢ for patrons with a HART Discount Permit will be in effect for the extended Route 4. Seniors 65 and older, youths 17 and younger, people with disabilities and Medicare cardholders are eligible for a HART Discount Permit. Route 85 – South Tampa Weekend Connector will not serve MacDill AFB on Saturday and Sunday, March 31st and April 1st only. South Tampa residents can take Route 85 to Britton Plaza and connect to Route 4 to travel to MacDill AFB.
