Potts Three public meetings will be held to give citizens an opportunity to express their views on the proposed Fixed Route Transportation System for Plant City. All meetings start at 6:30 p.m., dates and places of the meetings are as follows:
Tuesdays, May 30th meeting will be held in Spanish. The City of Plant City has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1,000,000 under the Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality Program to implement a pilot transportation project designed to promote a shift from single occupant vehicles (SOVs) to a fixed route transportation service in the Plant City community. Funding will be spread over a three year period with approximately $400,000 available in the first year and $300,000 in the second and third years. The goal of the project is to help reduce congestion and improve air quality within the city and along the I-4 corridor. Items to be discussed include a report of research and assessment methodologies and results, proposed local and express routes for transit service, and prospective funding mechanisms for expansion and/or continuation of service. Citizens of the community are invited to express their views on this important community issue and help identify specific actions that should be taken to respond to the community�s need for public transit service. HART will be providing free bus transportation to these meetings. All pickups must be registered.
