Public Transit Service Suspended in
Hillsborough County

August 12, 2004 – Tampa, Florida – Due to impending storm conditions, all Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) public transit bus, paratransit van, trolley and streetcar services will be suspended on Friday, August 13 to assist in emergency evacuation procedures.

HART patrons are encouraged to monitor local media announcements for the status of public transportation on days there after, or call the HARTinfo Line at (813) 254-4278. A recorded message with updates on service levels will be available.

Citizens needing information about emergency evacuations or with special medical needs should call the Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at (813) 272-6900. The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority operates under the EOC plan in the event of a hurricane.
