USF STUDENTS, STAFF AND FACULTY RIDE
HART BUSES FOR FREE

August 13, 2002, Tampa, FL – The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART), in partnership with the University of South Florida Parking and Transportation Services, has implemented a new fare-free bus riding program for members of the USF community.

The USF Fare-Free Program begins August 15, 2002. It will allow all currently registered USF students, along with current USF staff and faculty who have valid USF identification, to use their USFCard to ride any HART bus for free.

Fare-free bus rides are available on all HART bus routes except express service. HART operates five routes directly serving the USF campus, with connections at the University Area Transit Center to additional routes.

To participate in the USF Fare-Free program, riders need only show their USFCard to the bus operator. A special bus pass is not required. The rides have been pre-paid with revenues from USF Parking and Transportation Services.

“USF is proud to have a strong community partnership with HART,” said USF President Judy Genshaft. “This is a wonderful service for our faculty and staff, and will also help reduce parking demands on campus and alleviate traffic congestion in the University area.”
