HART TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING
ON SERVICE MODIFICATIONS TO
ROUTES 21X AND 58LX

August 31, 2001 � TAMPA, FLORIDA � The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) will hold a public hearing to take comments on proposed changes to Routes 21X-Town �N Country Express and Route 58LX-Southern Cross-County Limited Express. The public hearing will be held Monday, September 24, 2001 following the Fiscal Year 2002 Final Budget Hearing which begins at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at The County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in the 18th Floor Planning Commission Board Room. The regular monthly meeting of the HART Board of Directors will be held immediately following this and other public hearings.

It is proposed that Routes 21X and 58LX be combined to develop the new Route 58LX. Areas generating ridership will continue to be served by this new route. Service on the new Route 58LX, a limited express route, would continue with the mid-day service to downtown via the Marion Street Transit Parkway. The segment of Memorial Highway between Sheldon Road and Eisenhower Boulevard would be modified. Service to Westshore Mall would be deleted, while access would be improved to Westshore Boulevard between Spruce Street and I-275, providing connections with HART Routes 10, 30 and 36 serving the Westshore business district. The new route would service the St. Matthew�s Park and Ride Lot. The proposed change would provide service to the Town �N Country area, as well as provide additional daily trips.

The Route 58LX is funded by a WAGES grant and will provide eight round trips a day. Operating between 4:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., the route will provide bi-directional service between Netpark and Oldsmar via downtown Tampa and Town �N Country.

Written public comments on the proposed route changes will be accepted through September 21. The HART Board will review recommendations and authorize final routing at the September 24, 2001 meeting of the HART Board of Directors.
